Do You Hate Exercise?

Well, I can tell you I most definitely did.  Let me give you a little background….even as a child I remember during P.E. we had to run a mile.  I would run for all of a minute, then get that horrible stitch in my side and just walk the rest of the way.  I was completely fine with NOT being the first to cross that line.  Or even the 20th.  I finished, but only because I had to.  In middle school I joined the volleyball team, but since I wasn’t really a fan of, you know, diving for a giant ball, I was pretty much a bench warmer.  To this day I have no idea how I made the team but to say I stuck out would be an understatement.  I did cheerleading the following year and enjoyed that but when I didn’t make the team in high school I just gave up.  I didn’t want to try out again because what if I failed again?  I avoided P.E. in high school like the plague and considered walking to and from my classes on campus in college my workout.

This was all fine and dandy until my metabolism caught up with me.  Shortly after I got married the weight started to slowly creep on.  I had a full time office job and just felt there was no time in the day to get a workout in.  Besides, I thought, working out just makes me even more exhausted during the day, and hungrier and there’s just NO TIME.  Fast forward five years later and I became pregnant with my first son.  I was nauseated and miserable and HOT. After he was born I did “diets” to help me lose some weight but was never really motivated because I knew I wanted more children and why should I lose all that weight just to gain it again? Repeat that attitude two more times.

It wasn’t until this year that I began to see the error of my ways. I went through a workout “phase” and decided to get TurboFire.  At first it was hard…the first few days I was more tired.  But then, something happened.  I began to have more energy.  How was burning more calories giving me more energy throughout the day??  There is something that Chalene Johnson says on her Firestarter video that struck me.  She says (and I’m paraphrasing here) that people say, “I can’t workout because I don’t have enough energy.  Well, if you want more energy, then you have to workout!”  IT’S SO TRUE, Y’ALL!!  I felt physically and MENTALLY more energetic.  I became motivated and inspired and, yes, most days I did NOT want to press that play button.  But at the end of every workout I felt great.  That is what gets me through each session.

Oh, and look what I have discovered after four weeks of consistency…

At first I had to stop several times during the workout and take breaks.  I had to pace myself and do the easiest moves possible.  But, each time became slightly better than the last.  And now, I’m still a work in progress.  When I start a video I have not done before (because TurboFire comes with a TON of videos!) I usually have to break for a bit.  But, the next time is better and I KNOW that I will be able to complete it all one day.  I LOVE this feeling. It has inspired me in so many more areas of my life than just fitness.

And that is what I want you to take away from this post.  I am a girl who HATED to exercise.  I wasn’t and am not some fitness junkie who has found the latest and greatest new thing.  NO, I found something that is quick, effective and makes a huge difference in my life. And even though it is hard I stick with it because I know that the changes happening in my body and mind are worth it.  I AM worth it.  And you know what.  YOU ARE WORTH IT, TOO!  Don’t question it anymore.  Just get in front of your t.v., no excuses, and press play.
